Cape Town Gun Run

Cape Town Gun Run

October 2018 KFM94.5 Gun Run

Thinking of visiting Cape Town during October 2018? Great! Pack in your running shoes as well and join in on the 26th annual Gun Run half marathon taking place on 14th October 2018.

The Gun Run originated in 1993 and like many others, forms an integral part of the capetonian tradition. The hype surrounding this event has attracted people from all over South Africa and is noted as the second largest road run in the country. The aim of this event is to promote healthy living, fitness, fun and to raise funds for the benefit of various charitable organisations. Many of the local organisations require lots of funding to operate and continue to reach out and make a difference in the lives of others. The Gun Run is an open invitation event and does not discriminate against any group of individuals.

Over the years, there has been a remarkable increase in the number of participants. Runners are afforded the opportunity to choose between a 21km run, a 10km run/walk and 5km run/walk. All routes are dependent on the distance chosen by runners. Overall, runners will begin their route in Granger Bay, running down the stretch of Beach Road through the scenic area of Clifton and eventually make their way back to Green Point.

Straight after all the hard work has been completed, runners are encouraged to make their make to the Green Point Rugby Field to enjoy activities such as entertainment by the local radio station KFM who will have a line-up of exciting performances on stage, the firing of the battlefield gun, prize giving and a lucky draw at no additional cost. That’s not all, a delicious variety of food and drink stalls will be available to satisfy your appetite.
